Canadian Fivepin BowlingEach Canadian fivepin bowling game has ten frames, and each player bowls three balls in each frame unless they score a strike or a spare. The five pins are arranged in a triangle facing the bowler. Knocking over the forward pin is worth five points, the two behind are worth three points each and the three pins behind these are worth two points each. Unlike in tenpin bowling, the ball does not have any finger holes.CanoeingCanoeing is both a recreation and a competitive sport. With a kayak, the paddler sits in a forwardfacing position and uses a double-bladed paddle, and in a canoe the paddler kneels in a forward-facing position and paddles with a single-bladed paddle.Carom BilliardsThe main difference between carom billiards and normal billiards is that it is played on a billiard table without any pockets. Three balls are used, a red ball, a white ball and a white ball with a spot. The object of the game is to score points by making the cue ball hit one ball and bounce off to hit the other ball. The winner is the player with the most points at the end of the game.CricketCricket is played by two teams of eleven players. They take turns to bat and bowl (and field). The object of the team batting is to score as many runs as possible before being dismissed. While the object of the bowing and fielding team is to "dismiss" the batsmen by hitting the wickets with the ball (bowling) or catching it after it has been hit into the air by a batsman. The distance between the wickets is 22 yards (20.1 metres). In a match there are one or two innings per team. An innings ends when either ten of a team's batsmen are "out" or the team captain "declares."Cross-country RunningCross-country running is a sport where runners complete a course across the countryside in as short a time as possible. They can compete individually or in teams. The course should be over open country and fields with roads and obstacles being avoided.CroquetCroquet originated in France. The equipment consists of four balls, coloured blue, black, yellow, and red; four mallets, usually marked with the same colours; six hoops; and a peg. Croquet is played on grass by teams of two or four players. The winner is the team which completes the course first or scores the most points within an agreed time.Crown Green BowlsCrown green bowls gets its name because it is played on a grass surface that gently rises up to a crown in the center. The game is played between two players and each player has two bowls. One point is scored for each bowl nearer to the jack than the opponent's best ball. The winner is the first player to score 21 points.CurlingCurling is similar to bowls on ice, and dates fron the 15th century. The sport is popular in Scotland and Canada. There are two teams of four players and each player has two curling stones. A round target (looks similar to an archery target) in marked in the ice and this is called the "house". The object of the game is to slide the stones across the ice and get them to stop as close as possible to the center of the house.Cycle RacingThere are two types of cycle racing, track racing and road racing. Competitions can be for individual riders or teams. The first known cycling race was held over 2 km (1.2 miles) in Paris on 31 May 1868. The Tour de France was first held in 1903.
