Lacrosse

Lacrosse was developed from a game played by the Red Indians. It was introduced into England from Canada in 1867. It is played with a curved stick with a net at one end. The object of the game is to score goals by getting the ball across the opposing team's goal line. Players may use their sticks to catch, pass, throw or carry the ball. They can also roll or kick the ball. There are ten players on each team for the men's game and twelve for the women's. Men play for sixty minutes - four fifteen minute quarters plus extratime in four minute periods until a goal is scored if the scores are level at the end of the sixty minutes. Women play for fifty minutes - two twentyfive minute halves.
